One of the most important goals in the history of the Blue Army! 15 years ago today Ramirez joins Chelsea

On August 13, 2010, Chelsea signed Brazilian midfielder Ramirez from Benfica for a transfer fee of 22 million euros. After playing for the Blues for six and a half seasons, Ramirez has won honors such as the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup with the team. The most important of them is the first Champions League trophy in Chelsea's history, and Ramirez has made great contributions.

Chelsea played against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, and the Blues won 1-0 at home in the first leg. In the second leg, both sides fought a decisive battle at Camp Nou. In the first half, Busquets and Iniesta each scored a goal, and Barcelona led 2-0 and overtaken the total score 2-1. And the Blues Captain Terry ended up in red.

Ramirez stood up before the end of the half. He received a pass from Lampard. Facing Valdes' attacking, he easily shot into the net. Chelsea equalized the overall score and achieved an away goal advantage. Barcelona's storm in the second half was fruitless and Messi lost points. In stoppage time, Torres seized the opportunity to counterattack and scored a single goal, tied the score of the single game to 2-2, which also secured the victory for the Blues. In the end, Chelsea won the Champions League title of the season.

In an interview with Chelsea official website in 2017, Ramirez recalled: "I still remember that week when we were training, David Luis said to me, 'Rami, when the goalkeeper came out, you can only pick the shot.' I said yes, but in practice I tried it once or twice and didn't score.

"And then in the game, I got this opportunity. Lampard's pass was very wonderful, and the ball was just under my feet, allowing me to complete the shot with one shot. When I ran to the position, I saw Valdes rushing towards him, Alves on the left and another defender in the back, maybe Pique or Puyol.

"I saw Valdes rushing over and if I chose to hit the side he might save. So when I saw the goal behind him, I felt that the only way was to shoot, and I did it! When the ball fell, I looked, ran over, looked back and confirmed if the ball had entered. It was a wonderful moment for me."
