Telegraph: Isaac agent says players are unwilling to play for Newcastle anymore, he still wants to join Liverpool
According to the Daily Telegraph, Isaac's agent told Newcastle that the players were unwilling to play for the team and that the Swedes are pushing for Liverpool. This attitude prompted head coach Eddie Howe to decide to let Isaac train alone and said last weekend that the player's current mentality is not suitable for the roster.
Although Isaac threatens to strike, Newcastle has not received a formal transfer application. The club did not impose a fine on Isaac for his actions, although they have the right to do so. Moreover, the club is confused by Isaac's threat, as his contract is three years away and he is expected to represent Sweden in the World Cup next summer.
On Tuesday morning, Newcastle announced that Isaac will continue to wear the No. 14 jersey to compete in the new season, indicating that the club insists on letting go of the top scorer of last season. When asked about Isaac's future, Eddie Howe tried to maintain diplomatic rhetoric, implying that the players refused to participate in training and games.
Newcastle accused Isaac's agent of trying to force the club to sell players against their will, and the club insisted throughout the summer that the 25-year-old Swede was not a seller, but because of the players' behavior, they had to consider their departure conditions. A club senior source revealed that the club will consider letting go only if Liverpool offers £150 million and Newcastle can sign two suitable strikers to replace Isaac.
However, Newcastle's signing team failed to find a suitable replacement, and Liverpool also said it would not offer such a high price. Newcastle continues to stick to Isaac’s non-sales stance, but the situation becomes complicated under pressure from Isaac and its team. Isaac himself has not made any public statement yet and seems to be retaining other options.
