Tottenham official: Lead the team to open the "era full of trophys" and Nicholson Memorial Sight Returns to Home
According to Tottenham's official website, "Bill Nicholson Gate" will return to the New White Hart Lane Stadium this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur's official announcement reads:
We are extremely happy to announce that the "Bill Nicholson Gate" that once stood proudly at the main entrance of White Hart Lane for several generations will return in glory this summer.
This black-gold wrought iron gate, which has been recorded in history forever due to classic photos taken by Peter Robinson in the 1970s, was demolished for the construction of the new stadium in 2015 and has been properly preserved since then. In 1936, the young Bill Nicholson passed through the goal for the first time to participate in the trial, and then became the core of the team under Arthur Rowe's 50-51 championship. He later transformed into the club's most meritorious coach: he won the double championship in the league and the FA Cup in 1961, and two years later he led the team to win the European Championship, thus opening the golden age of full trophys in the N17 area.
Generations of fans, players and staff followed Bill Nicholson's footsteps and crossed the gate to White Hart Lane. We know the cultural and historical value it carries. In view of the major construction changes in the surrounding areas over the past decade, we have been considering it carefully for a long time and finally decided with the new stadium planning team and the fan advisory committee that the goal will be reset to the core position between the 17th District ticketing center of Paxton and the historic complex on the north side of the stadium.
construction has officially started to ensure that the legendary gate can be completed before its home debut against Burnley on Saturday, August 16. By then, it will not only become a classic landmark for fans to take pictures, but will also serve as the key to the club's legacy, telling in-depth the glorious journey of the team and the community, the stories of architectural treasures and legendary figures, and leading visitors through the time and space corridor.
Tottenham Chairman Levi said: "The Bill Nicholson Gate is a temple-level symbol of the club's historical heritage. I am very proud of my return this summer. Faced with the major renovation projects in the surrounding areas in recent years, we have never made a hasty decision. After careful planning with the architect team, construction partners and the fan advisory committee, we finally found a satisfactory solution. We look forward to welcoming fans in the new season, and sincerely invite members of the Bill family and meritorious players to come back to their hometown and touch this time and space gate connecting the club and glorious history."
The classic original photos given to the gate are being exhibited at OOF Gallery, and Peter Robinson's peak works are presented at the same venue, with the exhibition period lasting until August 31. The "Double Horizon" special exhibition sorts out the master's sixty-year creative career, from low-level leagues to the top of the world, and uses lenses to engrave football epics. The exhibition has multiple theme units: from psychological games during penalty kicks, instant players' casual injuries to hastily painted jersey numbers, showing the whole picture of football.
