A research team led by Luo Weicheng, associate professor of Applied Epidemics at the Peking University Hospital of Medicine, cooperated with the National Taiwan University Hospital of Public Health and Research Institute and used national health visits to analyze the health data of more than 19,000 adults over 30 years in Taiwan. The average life evaluation of the five health actors was explored, namely behaviors such as not smoking, drinking too much, sufficient exercise, eating more fruits and vegetables, and maintaining a healthy weight.

Studies show that people who do not smoke can live an average of 2.31 years and reduce medical expenses by 9.78%; however, those who drink too much can live an additional 1.62 years, those who exercise enough to live an additional 1.85 years, and the lives of people who consume enough fruits and vegetables can increase by 3.25 years; those who maintain a healthy weight can reduce medical expenses by 18.36% on average. The study was published in the international public health journal "JMIR Public Health and Surveillance" in July this year.
